Yes. It is important as you are learning the behaviors, failures and successes in his/her life to go slowly and learn along the way.  You want your child to be the best they can be, but sometimes pushing the envelope is not helpful.  Talk to your developmental pediatrician or his medical home pediatrician about where you want this socialization to go.
