One adaptation might be to grow a thick coat of hair (if you are a mammal), or a nice crop of down feathers (if you are a bird), or feet for digging in the mud of pond bottoms (if you are an amphibian), or a way to lower your metabolism while you are taking refuge from the elements (if you are a reptile or insect).
