Aspergers and Autism Syndrome

I am an adult facing a life with aspergers, and a little autism and some depression. What a life! A little background might nice. I just found about aspergers about 5 years ago. And as I look back in life, I can see a lot of the problems that I faced thru grade school to college. I fought my way thru college and graduated. I am starting to see some aspergers problems surfacing at the place where I work. Does Aspergers come under the ADA Act? And do employers work with people with aspergers or do they just fire or even furlough them, just to get rid of them. I work in a gov’t entity who knows nothing about aspergers syndrome and who doesn’t want to know more. What are my rights? With them not wanting to know more, I find myself in a so-called: hot bed of fire.  The mentality of this gov’t entity is that they live for having high numbers, numbers, etc. The mgmt mentality of this agency and on up the chain wants to look good at the expense of us employees. I don’t know what to do at the place where I am employed. It is a good job and I don’t want to be fired.  Can anyone help me?
