What the Expert Says:

Hello and thank you for writing to JustAsk!

Many different evaluation tools are available to help determine if an IEP is necessary or not.  The goal is to seek information as to a child's psycho-educational profile.  This includes their learning strengths and weaknesses.  In addition, the evaluation and IEP team may have several behavioral observations as part of the process.

Please ask for detailed information from your local educational team, including from the School Psychologist.

Good luck!
