As noted previously, it is good to wean off bottles onto cups (sippy cups are easy in this age group, avoiding spilling as well) around 1 year old.  This also helps development of normal muscle control around the mouth -- helping development of speech as well.

All children are different. If your child will drink out of a sippy cup then toss the bottle. If not then I would try the sippy cup at least once a day so he/she can get use to it.
