1) Read your parental rights handbook for Special Education. I
2) Find an advocate who will attend the IEP meetings with you.
3) Ask someone to help you better understand the purpose of retaining your  child with special needs when accommodations are being made.

You have the right to request that your child not be retained in the same grade a second time. Be familiar with your child's educational goals and expectations.
