Child in trouble for saying i will shoot you.

My child got in trouble today at school for telling a little girl he would shoot her, because she teased him and called him a baby.  She then responsed back that she would shoot him.  He has never gotten in trouble at school before and in the 4th grade.  He and the little girl are both getting in school detention.

How should i deal with this at home?  We have had the talk before at home that you can not say things like that in school, and that is considered a threat.

I am very upset about the whole ordeal.

He needs consequences (beyond detention). How? Thats your choice but it must be one that motivates him to NEVER say that again. This statement in "real life" constitutes a terroristic threat. As a matter of fact it should be one that will deter him from going on the road to a student of discipline as his calling.  Don't be very upset. It is just one of lifes curve balls.
