We went thru vision therapy.  It helped a little but after we finished he seemed to reach a reading plateau where the words per minute were not picking up and he seemed to be guessing at words while reading.  Plus he was still writing letters and numbers backwards.  That's when I got him tested for dyslexia.  He also has dysgraphia and a little dyscalculia going on too.  Talk to your physician to see what he recommends also.
