Hello Julia and thank you for writing to JustAsk!
Every school district within the United States must address through accommodations and programs the special needs of children who are deaf and hard of hearing (assuming that this impacts the child's educational success). That does not mean that your "home" school will offer such programs or that other children who is six years of age are being served in local programs. Since, deaf and hard of hearing spans a wide range of abilities, so do the services. However, you may find the following information helpful.
My suggestion would be to contact the local school board and ask to speak to the director of the Deaf Education program (or program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing). This person should have the local statistics and information you are seeking. Also, most school districts and local libraries have information of parent support/ networking groups for you to access.
In addition, the statewide program for Colorado(and other states) are in the list as follows:
http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Clerc_Center/Information_and_Resources/Info_to_Go/Resources/Statewide_Services_for_Deaf_and_Hard_of_Hearing_People.html
Also, the Colorado State School for the Deaf and blind should have information about programs throughout the state and if there are registered children receiving services in these programs. Their website information is as follows:

Good luck to your family.
