This is a difficult question to answer without some basic information. A high school student having a temper tantrum is different than a preschooler.

I am guessing that this a young child which is fairly typical. Temper tantrums are usually a power play. A young child who is acting out without harming anyone can continue until tired out. The teacher may check on the safety of the child but does not need to reinforce the behavior.
