osondu1 asks:

I have a cousin who is 7 years but have not been to school. At what level can she start schooling?

She is a Nigerians and does not have 100% opportunity to go to school. Her parents are very poor which makes it more difficult for her. At a point I decided to take up the sponsorship of her education. At what level can she start schooling?

What the Expert Says:

Hi Harry,
School age in the US is 5 in order to start Kindergarten. At age 7 in the US she would most normally be in the 2nd grade. You do not say whether she has had any schooling? She would need to be tested to see what grade level she could enter, both academically and emotionally.
Thank you for being an invested cousin concerning the academic schooling for this child.

This is usually up to the school administrator.  Take them there and they will be able to tell which grade she is ready for both socially (to make sure she is not so much older than other students that it makes social interactions more difficult for her) and educationally (to make sure she isnt so far behind students she cant catch up.

Best wishes to both your cousin and yourself.  It is a very good thing you are doing to help sponsor her education.
