Hi Kaykai,

It is great that you are looking at ways to get your daughter ready for kindergarten. Will she be entering kindergarten this fall?

You can prepare her during the summer by talking to her about kindergarten. If you have not visited the school where she will be enrolling, it can be helpful to visit the school, play in the school’s playground,  and meet the teacher so she will feel comfortable on her first day of school.

You can academically prepare her by reading aloud to her with stories and picture books at home. It can also be helpful if she is familiar with the letters of the alphabet.

http://www.readyfreddy.org/ is a great resource for parents with children entering kindergarten.

The site will even have an online interactive book up later this month. The book takes children through the process of getting ready for school and shows them what their first day might be like. The site is full of information for parents. Check it out!

hi ,allow your child to be a little independent , therefore when at school she will be able to look after her things .also separate from your child for a few hours 2 or 3 times a week so she does not feel rejected when suddenly your not around.
