How can I help my daughter understand what she's reading about ?

My daughter is 10 years old and when she reads she docent understand what she just read. If u ask her what was the story about she docent know.

It seems like she may have poor short term memory. It's possible that reading is still quite difficult for her and she's spending a lot of time processing the text, and so when it comes round to comprehension, she's at a loss. I've put a weblink which has more information....
