Q:
What day does school start and we are trying to find out what grades my Granddaughter received last year?
I am Darlene Carter, Casey Pewitt's Grandmother. Since she lost her Father last December things are kind of unorganized. I'm trying to help my Daughter Sherry find and do things she can't get to, do to working. Anything you can help me with or a number to speak to someone.

Hello Ms. Carter,

I'm sorry to hear of your family's loss. I've linked below an article on this website that you and your daughter may find helpful in supporting your grandchildren in coping with their grief. Your daughter may also be in need of counseling and support (if she isn't already receiving it), and it's wonderful that she has you (and her doctor or counselor?) to help out.

For learning your granddaughter's grades and the start date for the new school year, I suggest contacting the school district. You can research their contact information in SchoolFinder: http://www.education.com/schoolfinder/

SchoolFinder may also include the phone number for your granddaughter's school, but if it's not year-round, they may not be answering their phones during the summer. The school's PTA, though, may have a website that includes information about the school start date (and may offer a way for you to reach them online). Try a Google search for the school name and the word PTA to see if that leads you to a PTA site, or ask your daughter if she knows any other parents in the school community who may likewise be able to help.

Lastly, I suggest contacting Education.com (http://www.education.com/contact/ ) and asking that they remove your phone number and other personally-identifiable information from this question page. Generally speaking, it's not best practice to post this private information on publicly-viewable websites.

I wish your family strength and support, and hope you soon have the info you need to best prepare the family for the start of the new school year.
