you need to look at what makes him hyperactive. the diet, the routine and structure are important when wanting to decrease / limit the hyperactivity. once you have addressed these 3 aspects, and he is still hyperactive, then you can consult a pediatrician and ask him to recommend an alternative. medication is always the last resort but also necessary at times.
