Hi Booksmart….

Longitude lines are vertical lines “parallel” to the international dateline and run east and west.  Latitude lines are horizontal lines “parallel” to the equator and run north and south.  Longitude and latitude lines are measured in degrees.  Both lines start at 0 degree and go to a maximum of 180 degrees.  To accurately locate a location, the numbers for both the longitude and latitude are needed.

        Hope this helps!
