The answer to your question may be foundon the website below, which is also a great resource for teaching sight words and spelling words to students of all levels. You can use many of the features on the website for free. My 5 year old son particularly likes the Cat and Mouse spelling game.

Schools either use Dolch or Fry's. It is school site based. Our school uses Frys. I'm an a first grade teacher. If students coming into my class haven't memorized a minimum of the first 200 they are already behind. The first 100 hundred of Dolch and Fry's are almost the same.
