Our world is full of electronic media from cell phones to video games to computers. In order to participate fully in this electronic age, children need to learn to use electronic media wisely and safely. As a parent, it is important that you educate yourself about each new medium as it is introduced and modified. For example, consider cell phones. Some have Internet capabilities, some don't. Most younger children need to have their Internet experience carefully monitored. Therefore, parents need to learn about the parental control technology available for cell phones that have Internet capability. Electronic media are not inherently good or bad but they are powerful. This power can be channeled to benefit a child if a parent makes doing this a priority.
