There are virtual elementary schools both public and private depending on the state you are in. check: http://www.education.com/schoolfinder/

Select your state in a box titled "Online public and private schools" to see the options in your area.

Yes you can. My nephew does. He is out of the country for 3 months, so his parents enrolled him into online class so he can still attend schooling during the month long vacation.

MY CHILDREN IN K TOOK CLASSES ONLINE K12. IT IS FREE BUT YOU CAN ALSO PAY FOR INDIVDUAL COURSES WHICH IS WHAT WE DID. I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST IF YOU ARE GOING TO HOME SCHOOL TO CHECK OUT MCRUFFY CURRICULUM. IT IS NOT ONLINE SCHOOL BUT AN AFFORDABLE, EASY, EFFIECIENT CURRICULUM. LAST YEAR I USED MCRUFFY FOR SCIENCE, MATH AND LANGUAGE.THEN PURCHASED K12 ONLINE FOR HISTORY. IT WAS MY FIRST YEAR HOMESCHOOLING AND MY 2children ages 5&6 did great with it.I would look into homeschool laws in you state and  also find out what the state standards for kinder are . Then I would suggest going to homeschool reviews.com and check out curriculum. They also have a forum you can ask questions about homeschool.First year homeschool can be intimidating but is easier than it seems.Progressive phonics and starfall are free learn to read programs.I used them as supplements.I also used you tube videos and free worksheets found online.
