Q:

Where can I find help teaching a lefty?

My 4 year old grandson is with us during the day. I like to try giving him some games to play to help him in reading and writing. But I dont know how to help on his writing due to him being a lefty. Any ideas would be great help.

Hi, Here's an article with some info you may find helpful:

Tips for Teaching a Left-handed Child
http://www.education.com/magazine/article/Left_Left_Left_right_Left_Tips/

It includes a paragraph specifically focused on the challenges of left-handed writers (and what can be done to make the process easier for them).

There's also another JustAsk question about left-handed writing that has an Expert answer you might also find helpful:

In terms of activities you could do with your grandson, here is Education.com's Preschool Activities collection:

Good luck -- I hope you have a great time learning together.

I am a lefty and I don't remember getting special treatment, or learning in a different way then my right handed friends.
I've done a quick search and found some information that might be useful. I've included few resources links here below.

btw: You might be pleased to know that in some cultures left handed people are considered gifted and lucky. actually I've been told ones by a Jewish religious friend who realized that I'm left handed that .."I should have no worries in life"..
