i am getting my son the seasonal flu shot. He's already had the swine flu shot. I have heard that people get sick from getting the flu shot. Is this true?

You can't get the flu from the flu vaccine, as it contains a dead virus that cannot divide. We get sick with the flu after catching a live virus that multiplies in our bodies. That's what makes us sick. However, after receiving the flu vaccine, it takes approximately 2 weeks to develop full immunity against the flu. Therefore, there is a chance of getting the flu shortly after receiving the vaccine if you get exposed to a live virus.
