In the NYC area the YWCA provides a great deal of child care for working families. Check out what ages they will care for in your area. The other is to call your local hospital and ask about care. Many have child care for employees and area residents.

Finally, call 311 which should cover all boroughs of the city and ask about social services and child care availability.
