Q:
hearing tests how reliable are they?Is sedation for ABR harmful for my baby
My 5 month old son was born in his 36 week .during my pregnancy he suffered from IUGR and when he was born only weighed 1600 g.He spent 20 days in the NICU during which he undergone OAE screening and failed. After his discharge from the hospital when he was about one month old he also failed OAE.At 3 months old he went through screening ABR for the first ear he passed then failed.and for the second tympanogram showed fluid. Then after 1 month they refused to do the test due to wax.Now I am tired of all this hearing test thing. My son babbles and reacts and smiles but I am not sure if he has problem as he does not turn his head towards my voice but he is premature and still behind his peers.I have no belief anymore in hearing test how reliable are they?Is sedation for ABR harmful for my baby
