Hi, one of the best options I like for my children are going to the state museums, children's museums, or the zoo. Usually, those places will also put on special attractions that have a certain theme. This can be a great purpose to go and teach the children about topics. Hope this helps!

Your local library might have some events going on during the summer, like movie nights, workshops, book clubs, etc.

Also, Education.com recently kicked off their Summer Activities Challenge! You might find some good ideas there, the link is included below.

Hope you find something fun and educational to do this summer :)

1. visit local historic sites. Take pictures and notes and prepare a travelogue to use in class room or at home. Make a Power Point Presentation
2. Learn to scrapbook - multiple applications

Try the local wildlife centers for summer programs for kids.  Look for a local recreation program or library adventure center. Also, if you live near the shore/ocean, many of the state and national parks have "seine the bay programs" or ocean identification programs for children.  River keepers do the same.  Check with your local girl scouts etc for what they are up to during the summer and enjoy the time off.

Hello and thanks for writing!

Biking with a small pocket camera can be great fun (or walking).  Take photos, print and make wonderful collages.

Also, you can make a scrapbook of your favorite summer memories.

Have fun!
