sarmo writes:
since ice cream is a crystalline solid, the substance becomes soft and liquidy slowly. when the particles in the ice cream take energy (heat) from its surroundings, they become a liquid, because the melting point of ice cream is higher than room temperature, and it is therefore a liquid at room temperature, and drips, because of its being crystalline, which is why it drips, and melts slowly, not all at once.
