Hi MrsAlew!ne,

Well, you've got one of the most important pieces down: the desire to be involved. Whenever you are at home try to spend as much time with your child as you can. Whether it's helping them with their homework or sitting around the dinner table for a meal together, quality time is important. There are several articles on about the importance of spending time with your children. Even though you can't be there as much as you would like, being there as much as you are able is the best you can do.
