1 kilogram = 1000 grams (or 1 kg = 1000 g)

Sorry, but the previous answer is incorrect. We used to use the Imperial system of measure in Canada but switched over to the Metric system years ago (while I was still in school). I learned the Imperial system first and then had to switch to the Metric system.

The metric system is the only one taught here now, so what I'm telling you now is what I teach my class.

A kilogram (kg) is a metric measure. One kilogram is the equivalent of 1000 grams.

How many pounds (lbs) in 1 kg? The exact answer is 2.20462262185 pounds. For ease of use for oldster Canadians who still want to do conversions of the weight conversions, the number of pounds in a kilogram is shortened to just 2.2 pounds = 1 kilogram.

BTW, 1 kilometre = 1000 metres. (American spelling is kilometer)

1 metre = 100 centimetres (100 cm)

1 metre = 39.37 inches (for estimating = 39 inches)

1 centimetre = 2.54 inches (for estimating = 2.5 inches)

Hope this clears up the answer. I won't even go into the conversions for Celsius to Fahrenheit!
