In most states kindergarten is not required and as a parent, you are often free to pull the child out of kindergarten. But first, check with your school to find out what your state's requirements might be for attendance.

Please remember that going from kindergarten to first grade takes into account a child's readiness for first grade. If a child does not attend kindergarten, he/she may not be ready for first grade. Thus, while not a requirement, kindergarten nevertheless can be critical for preparing a child to be ready for first grade.
