Many do need naps and are best served by having morning classes or half day school. Many will outgrow the nap during the year.

My wife is a kindergarten teacher.  She says, " my daughter is exhausted at the end the school day.  I believe they need a nap.  A nap is needed to give the children a break.  I answered this question on my educational talk show on blogtalkradio.com. The total education show.
