How do I know if it's dyslexia?
I have recently noticed something new and unsual about my 6yr old, who is currently in kindergarten. She occasionally writes her name completely backwards, but also knows how to write it correctly. How do I know if this is a sign of dyslexia or not? She also writes number backwards once in while, but again, not always. Help, anyone.

Hi,
I think noticing your child's reading and writing habits is excellent, however please don't panic, as writing a name backwards does not necessarily mean your child has a learning disability.

Beware sight words, which can activate dyslexia-type symptoms. Many schools think they are helping kids by making them memorize Dolch list. See this article and decide for yourself.
