Q:

Learning English like the second language

Hello! My name is Ann and I am from Russia.  In a year we are going to live in New-York City. Now my daughter wants to study English, she knows German and she has never studied English. What's  important    in the study   of English if you hasn't studied it before. How do one set about learning.  Thank you.

What the Expert Says:

Hello and thank you to writing to JustAsk,

BRAVO to you and your daughter for wanting to learn English.  Television with English spoken or subtitles can help to learn the language.  Also, formal programs such as Rosetta Stone and Berlitz may help you.  And talking to native speakers in your area now will provide a natural communication experience..

Good luck and welcome to the United States!
