I need to write a profile on a person who is making a difference in keeping performing arts in public schools. Any suggestions on a great person to profile?

The one person who comes to mind, and would be easy to profile as there is a mountain of information about her, is Michelle Obama. She has come out strongly in support of arts education (see links below).
Other than her, there are a number of groups dedicated to encouraging and restoring art education in the US, but I could only find a few specifically for the performing arts. The performing arts alliance (http://theperformingartsalliance.org) may be a good place to start, one of their board of directors might be a good person to profile, or at least to contact for their opinion.
