Most schools and districts require a " C" average. However, if the parent intervenes or there are unique circumstances, the child may still be promoted.
Aside from the grade average, teachers also look at how the children are doing with meeting state academic standards in reading and mathematics, the age of the student and the social-emotional development of the student. Other factors may be attendance, attitude, needs of the school or the families.
There is no state fixed requirement. It is left up to the local school district policies and family discretion.
