To solve this equation, you need to change your mixed number ( 2 1/2) into an improper fraction.  This is a necessary step in multiplying fractions.  When you have two improper fractions, it's easier to multiply them together.

Changing mixed number to improper fraction:

2 1/2 = 5 /2

Then multiply the two fractions together:

5/2 * 3/4 = 15/8 = 1 7/8

Answer 1 7/8
