Hi Mizzy....

         A fraction has two numbers - one at the top and one at the bottom.  For example 1 / 4.  The number "1" is called the numerator and the number "4" is the denominator.  The numerator is the number left or taken from the whole.  The denominator is the number of the "whole" sliced or broken down into that many parts.
