As mentioned earlier, there is no pass mark for the SAT. In fact,there is a growing trend not to use the SAT or ACT as an admissions factor, as some believe these tests are not as important as grade point average, class rank, etc.

The #1 strategy- call the admissions office at the specific college you are looking into and seek their thoughts on the role of the SAT or ACT and average test scores.

There actually is not a "pass mark" for the SAT but I think this should answer your question:

The top score on the SAT is 2400. The average SAT score is about 1500, or 500 per section (there are 3 sections). You will also receive a percentile rank for each section, which will tell you how you scored relative to the other students who took that administration of the exam.
