What the Expert Says:

Hello Kelly5150 and thank you for writing to JustAsk!

To find out what is considered a passing grade within your school or school district go to the guidance office and ask for the school's grade criteria for passing and for credit.  Some school districts will give a D grade so that a child "passes", however, it may not count towards graduation credit.  In order to get an exact definition, you will need to get the school documentation.   A visit to the guidance counselor is probably your best bet!  (Also, many school districts post grading criteria on their printed report cards that your child brings home and on formal transcripts)

Good luck!
