That is a tall order for a preschool child! I'm sure all the parents will be doing it. I'd suggest the thermometer as the appropriate instrument, and possibly a rain gauge and wind vane -- all understandable at this level. Is the child supposed to fill in sample readings from the different seasons? I'd question the teacher on this assignment. As an educator with over 40 years in science education, I think this assignment is inappropriate.
