familyof5 asks:

Do private schools offer more hours for kindergarten students per week as opposed to public schools?

My 5 year old is so ready for school so i want him to have the opportunity to attend as many hours per week that are available to him. We are moving from Australia and with our system he would be starting school on February 1st for 5 full days a week. With the Indiana system he has to be 5 by July 1st to be eligible. So he'll be eligible to start kindergarten in August this year.

Hi there,

Private school Kindergarten programs will vary by school in terms of hours and age requirements. If you'd like to start school before August, I suggest searching for private school options in your area with our SchoolFinder tool and contacting any that fit your needs directly to learn about their options.   You can search by city or zip and then refine your results by school type, size, and student-teacher ratio.

Also, you might want to contact your public school district as well, even if your son can't start K until August, there could be a great PreK option they suggest in the meantime.

Good luck with the move!
