Do public schools ever offer part time attendance for K i.e. 2-3 days a week instead of 5?

My son will be entering Kindergarten next fall so I am starting my research on schools. Short of actually calling each school and asking I haven't found any information on possible Part time schedules for Kindergartners. I know some public schools offer half days vs. full days but I'm wondering if any offer more of a Pre-School type schedule.

I have seen some private Kindergartens that offer more flexibility but being a single mom currently fighting a divorce I can not afford to shell out that kind of money another year. If it comes down to it then I will of course, but hopefully I can find another option.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

In my experience as a public school teacher, I have never come across a kindergarten program that didn't operate daily. Typically, public schools will offer half-day or full-day kindergarten programs and some schools will offer an afterschool program for students of working parents.

I would recommend you call schools in your area to find out their offerings. It's great that you are looking into this now as many afterschool programs will fill up quickly, but will often regard family needs due to work and other situations, as priority for enrollment.
