The age differs based on school districts.  I'd suggest talking to your guidance counselor and finding out that information from them.  They may also be able to give you an idea about what your options will be without a high school diploma.

Hi unicorn333,

Generally is age 16, BUT you should not quit school or encourage anyone else to quit.  Without a good education and especially a high school diploma you will have little to no chance of finding a satisfying job, not to mention other consequences that will follow.

I've NEVER met a person that regretted graduating high school, receiving a diploma or continuing their education into college, BUT I've met many people that regretted quitting school and wished they could go back, but it's too late, that's why they try so hard to obtain a GED.  But keep in mind that a GED is NOT the same as a DIPLOMA and although, you may not be discriminated against with a GED, it will hold many attributes as far as obtaining a job or more.  I was an Office Manager and took responsibility for hiring, etc. employees.  From experience, if I had two candidates for a job and both were qualified but one had a diploma, the other a GED, I employ the one with the diploma.  Why?  Because they are not quitters.  I know they are more likely to stick it out and perform, the person with the GED, may or may not.  People do not want to take those chances, because it costs a great deal of money to train and prepare a person to perform a job, they want to invest in a person who will not let them down.

This is a serious decision, one that should be discussed with parents or guardians and absolutely the school counselor.  Good luck with the choices you make, don't do something that you will regret!!  Best Wishes!
