Organized by the National Education Association (NEA), Read Across America is "the biggest reading party of the year," in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2nd. On that day, and in the weeks before and after, children across America will be encouraged and involved in a variety of learning activities focused on reading. In some schools and at the Library of Congress, local and national celebrities will visit to read their favorite books to children. Some classrooms will mark the occasion with Dr. Seuss crafts and reading sessions. There are also Read Across America activities families can do at home.
