I don't think there are any requirements for naps in kindergarten. It can be tough for brand new kindergartners to adapt to this new schedule, but many schools are making the choice to move toward a longer day, with more of an academic focus, and often, less napping.

On the bright side, giving up naps often means that kids are able to sleep better at night!

Below, I'm including an article that explains the sleep needs of different age groups. According to this expert source, most kids start giving up naps by 5 years of age.
