Q:

What requirements are needed for a student to pass 4th grade in Texas?

IF TAKS is required in 3rd, 5th, and 8th in order to move up to the next grade, what are the requirements for the in-between years grades 4th, 6th, and 7th?

Hi, I sent your question to the Texas Education Agency and received this response from Kelly Callaway, Foundation Curriculum Director at the agency's Division of Curriculum...

"Local school districts are required to establish and publish a promotion policy that includes consideration of the following when making promotion/retention decisions:
⢠The recommendation of the studentâs teacher
⢠The studentâs grade in each subject or course
⢠The studentâs score on the TAKS (English or Spanish) in grades 3-8 or an alternate assessment under §39.023(b) or (l)
⢠Any other necessary academic information"

To get in touch with the agency directly, please visit this page of their website: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/contacttea.aspx
