What the Expert Says:

Hi pink3fizz,

This is a good question, but we would suggest you give us a bit more detail on what kind of things your child is doing to upset the neighbors. For sure you should hold the child accountable and impress upon the child the importance of respecting others. For example, if property is damaged, the child should have to repair the damages or pay for the cost of the damage. If the child is an older teenager, the consequences would be different than for a child who is still in elementary school.

Please call or e-mail our Hotline with more specific information. We talk to parents every day who need advice, guidance and support. We are here 24 hours, 7 days a week. We also have a website for parents: www.parenting.org

It's great that you are reaching out and we hope hear from you soon!

Sincerely,

Cynthia, Crisis Counselor
