What the Expert Says:

Transportation and communication modeling or planning is a process that develops information to help make decisions on future transportation and communication problems. It involves the need (for example) to expand or widen highways, or public transit systems, evacuation routes and policies, to communication emergency information between police, fire, medical personnel. To prepare a working model, you need to take a transportation and communication problem of today, and project it into the future, and in doing so detail how you would solve the problem.
For example, what if you have a 45 minute warning of a bomb going off in New York City? How do you communicate, how do you evacuate? A working model on transportation and communications would deal with solving all such a problem. Other thoughts - GPS is global but cellphones can be used only here or there, same with Internet. Should the Internet be freely accessible everywhere? How could that be done?

Good luck!
