Hi Subinthomas888,

The best way to solve equation like this is to always isolate the X - put all the number with X on one side of the equation and all the number without the X on the other side.

Thus you will get this:

1/4X = 5 - 11
1/4X = -6

To isolate the X, you must remove 1/4.  You do this by dividing 4 to both sides of the equation.  The reason why you divide by 4 is that (1/4) * (4/1) = 1

(4)1/4X = (-6)(4)

X = -24

Putting -24 back to the original equation

(1/4)(-24) + 11 = 5
-6 + 11 =5
5 = 5

Hope this helps!
