Hi Anonymous,

This problem may look simple but because of the fraction, it gets a bit tricky.

To solve algebra equations like this, always isolate the variable â in this case, the variable âwâ

-2/3w + 5 = 4
-2/3w = 4 â 5
-2/3 w= -1
w = (-1)(-3/2)
w = 3/2

To check your work:
(-2/3)(3/2) + 5 = 4
-6/6 + 5 = 4
-1 + 5 = 4

Hope this helps!
