Q:
My son wants to change middle school to where I live
My son is in 7th grade and wants to transfer from his mother's school district to mine. He would be going to a 5 star school as opposed to a 4 star. He has a lot of friends here also as we have shared 50/50 custody. I was told I have to petition a judge. Does anyone know how this procedure works?

Every district has different rules about transfer in our state.
I would call the supertindents office of the school district in which you live and ask them what the requirements are to transfer into your school. Just call to get information in general about transfer.  Do not expand your conversation, as to why you are calling, just obtain the information you need.   We have a granddaughter who has transferred to her father's district even tho the divorce decree states that mother has sole custody.  Our son has his daughter every weekend.  He did not have to go to court.
