What the Expert Says:

You have more than one option.  You can request testing through your son's school.  If that is not available, do you live near a university with a psychology training program? Testing may be available there on a sliding scale rate.  Most larger towns have learning disability specialists who do private testing, but that can be expensive.
Good luck!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that your child may be struggling with reading and/or writing.

The National Center for Learning Disabilities has compiled this list of things parents can do if they suspect their child may have a learning disability, such as dyslexia: http://www.education.com/reference/article/Ref_What_Can_I_Do_If_I/

NCLD also collaborated with Education.com to offer this special edition on learning disabilities: http://www.education.com/special-edition/learning-disabilities-rti/ It includes lots of information to support you as you investigate your concerns further.
